Background: Native to southwestern Asia, the plant contains high amounts of calcium and fiber, while also being loaded with antioxidants.  As written in the Bible, Adam and Eve used fig leaves to cover themselves after consuming the “forbidden fruit,” showing the extraordinary power and beliefs in the fig. Also contained in the fig are essential vitamins, enzymes, flavonoids, and polyphenols—also effective compounds for cosmetics treatments.
